Today we are cooking typical Ugandan food, rice and beans my Ugandan style.
This recipe is easy, fast and it does not cost much.
We wash the beans first.
I used 2 cups of beans and 4 cups of water.
Boiling time with fresh beans is about 45 min.
While the beans are cooking, we chop the veggies:
Red onion, garlic, ginger, green pepper, tomato, and carrot
Ingredients list:
2 cups of fresh beans
1 red onion
Some garlic and ginger
1 green pepper
1 peeled tomato
1 carrot
Seasonings:
Salt
Turmeric
Curry Powder
Black pepper
Paprika powder
Coriander powder
Mchuzu mix / Royco is ok too
Rice:
1 cup rice with 2,5 cups water
I used hot water to speed up the process a little bit

The umushanana (plural: imishanana) is the traditional ceremonial dress of women in Uganda, Burundi and Rwanda. It consists of a wrapped skirt bunched at the hips and a sash draped over one shoulder, typically worn over a tank top or bustier. The fabric used for the mushanana may be any color and is often gauzy and lightweight to create a flowing effect. Mushananas are no longer frequently used as daily wear, but rather are worn on formal occasions such as to attend church services, weddings or funerals.
They are standard costumes for female dancers in umushagiriro dance troupes.
Mushanana is also worn by the Bafumbira women from Kisoro District in the Kigezi sub-region in the western part of Uganda.
