Concerning the originating countries. Mediterranean sea refugees are not anymore primarily from Syria in 2017, but from Nigeria. Then from Syria, Guinea, Ivory Coast, Morocco, Bangladesh – I take out the countries which are not Africans since we focus on Africa today – Gambia, Mali, Iraq, Algeria – to continue I took another source, equally reliable but that is a bit older since those are the figures of the years 2015 – 2016. With this source from Eurostat, we see that the other main countries of migrations are Afghanistan, Pakistan, Iran, Eritrea, Albania, Russia, Somalia, Morocco, Ivory Coast, Sudan, Turkey, and Senegal.

Continuing with that story, cases of coronavirus are on the rise in Africa - and governments are taking action to limit the outbreak.
Algeria, Senegal, Egypt, Nigeria, Tunisia, South Africa and Morocco have all recorded cases of COVID-19.
The total number of cases on the continent stands at 27, with Algeria being the most affected, with 17 cases so far.
South Africa, Tunisia and Nigeria have one case each while Senegal reported four and Egypt 2.
Just like in Kenya, numerous events, sporting matches and conferences in various countries have been cancelled or postponed in efforts to curb the spread.

The African Union has come under fire for terminating the appointment of Arikana Chihombori-Quao, its ambassador to the United States.
A spokesperson for the AU chairman's office says that she has come to the end of her political appointment after spending three years in the position. But her supporters believe that she is being punished for her views about France's ongoing influence across the continent.
