But currently, some other developing #African #countries have caught up and found their rhythm within the exclusive group of Africa’s most #influential countries. In order for a country to be influential, it must have clearly identifiable political characteristics, as well as social and cultural identifying factors with which it stands out from all other countries.

Synopsis
Sexual abuse toward children and adolescents is a stark reality worldwide. A common misperception about child sexual abuse (CSA) is that it is a rare event perpetrated against girls by male strangers in poor, inner-city areas. To the contrary, CSA is a much too common occurrence that results in harm to millions of children, boys and girls alike, in large and small communities, and across a range of cultures and socioeconomic backgrounds. These acts are perpetrated by many types of offenders, including men and women, strangers, trusted friends or family, and people of all sexual orientations, socioeconomic classes, and cultural backgrounds. Children face different kinds of abuse but the worst form of abuse is sexually assault on children.

CRÍTICA: É uma tarde comum para o jovem Mabo Keïta, em sua casa, no Burkina Faso (África Ocidental). Enquanto seus pais estão tirando uma soneca, ele lê um livro escolar na varanda quando um estranho - um homem idoso carregando sua própria rede - aparece para uma visita inesperada.

Acontece que o velho é um griot, um músico/artista da África ocidental cujas apresentações incluem histórias tribais e genealogias. A posição de um griot é uma homenagem e passa de pai para filho por muitas gerações.

O griot anuncia que ele está em uma missão e chegou para ensinar ao jovem Mabo sobre sua história. Mabo é curioso e ansioso para aprender sobre seu passado, e logo seu interesse no trabalho escolar diminui.

Como resultado, surge um desacordo entre os pais. A mãe de Mabo pensa que o trabalho de um griot não é mais importante. Ela e sua professora não querem que as lições do griot interfiram com o trabalho escolar de Mabo. Por outro lado, o pai do menino não quer negar a seu filho a tradição das lições do griot - afinal, eles têm sido uma parte importante de sua família por gerações. Há um conflito entre idéias modernas e tradicionais.

O escritor e diretor Dani Kouyaté vem de uma longa linha de griots em sua família. Seu pai, Sotigui Kouyaté, um griot da vida real, interpreta o griot no filme. Talvez, por essa razão, Kouyaté tenha sucesso em transferir a arte da narração oral para a tela do filme. Através do griot e do jovem menino, o épico Sundjata, do início do século 13, é recontado no filme. Trata-se de um homem que transformou sua nação (o povo Mande) no grande império comercial maliano (na África Ocidental). É uma história fascinante cheia de realismo mágico.
