11 MegaProjects Sponsored By Russia in Africa Changing The Continent.
Bilateral trade between Russia and Africa has increased by almost 35% in the first half of 2023 despite international sanctions and the fallout from the COVID-19 pandemic, with expectations of doubling by 2030. Russia, a major exporter of agricultural products, machinery, and weapons to Africa, is also investing in infrastructure projects like railways and power plants.
Russia's investment focus in Africa centers on key countries such as Egypt, Algeria, South Africa, and Ethiopia, chosen for their stable political environments, growing economies, and rich natural resources. While it holds the potential for significant economic benefits to African countries, it also raises valid concerns about exploitation and dependency. Only time will reveal whether Russia's involvement with Africa will ultimately be beneficial or pose challenges.
In this video, we will look at 11 ongoing projects funded by Russia in Africa, and their significance for both the recipient and benefactor.
