8TH ALL AFRICA GAMES CEREMONIES NIGERIA 2003
On the theme of rebirth and regeneration, the Opening Ceremony was an exploration of the African history and the woes it suffered but also a tribute to the resilience and dynamism of the African people.
Based on a concept from Nobel Prize of Litterature Pr. Wole Soyinka, the Ceremony combined tradition and modernity. A giant anthill, monumental image projection on the set-up, field of play and stands, flame ballet and a grand pyrotechnic finale were all part of a design that featured more than 5000 performers in this moving and spectacular show.
