Bishop Hassan Kukah, Bishop of Sokoto discussed on SaharaTV his 37 years of priesthood in Nigeria, his views on political instability in Nigeria and the future of the country. Kukah, a prominent Nigerian Catholic Priest, lamented over the current political situation in Nigeria. "The entire landscape is riddled with all kind of characters some with criminal records who come into politics simply because it's the only way they can earn a living," He also described his general relationship with politics in Nigeria by noting "I am not available for politics. I am struggling to be a good priest," said Kukah. According to Kukah, the blame for many of Nigeria's problems falls on an obsession with religion. "I wish Nigerians would do away with this common obsession with Christianity and Islam and move ahead to forge a common citizenship," said Kukah.
