The Labour Party and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have jointly called for the complete cancellation of the governorship election in Imo State, citing alleged irregularities that, according to them, marred the electoral process.
During a press conference held in Owerri, the capital of Imo State, the governorship candidate of the Labour Party, Athan Achonu, and his PDP counterpart, Samuel Anyanwu, expressed dissatisfaction with the election, describing it as below standard and a stain on the integrity of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Conversely, the All Progressives Congress (APC) chairman in Imo State, Macdonald Ebere, offered a contrasting view. He described the election as free, fair, and credible, urging other political parties to unite, accept the election outcome, and extend their support to Governor Hope Uzodimma of the APC for the development of the state in the next four years.
