Nigeria’s Federal Government has described its inclusion into the United Kingdom red list and subsequent travel ban following global panic over the Omicron virus as unacceptable and discriminatory

Recall that a UK government statement on Saturday announced Nigeria's addition to the red list saying that the "vast majority" of Omicron variant cases in the UK "have clear links to overseas travel from South Africa and Nigeria".

Nigeria’s Minister of Information, Culture, and Tourism Lai Mohammed has accused the UK government of making a decision not based on scientific evidence available.

Mohammed spoke to newsmen in the nation’s capital Abuja saying the panic over the virus was uncalled for and the UK reaction is discriminatory to Nigerians.
