Steamer mv Ilala is now approaching the Kariba Dam, one of the largest electricity stations in Africa. Building commenced in 1955 and was nearing completion of the first stage when the steamer arrived. This is the second part of an old amateur 16mm film . Viewer Colin Pryce gave the following information:
Lake Malawi and Lake Kariba are 2 totally different lakes hundreds of miles/kilometers apart. Lake Malawi is one of the Great Rift Valley lakes (Southern most) and Lake Kariba is on the Zambezi river and is man made behind the Kariba Dam, bordering Zimbabwe and Zambia.
