“The Lagos Fashion Week was really nice, really dynamic. I saw all types of fashion, some pieces that I was even considering wearing myself, a lot of really nice bold color pallets, a lot of nice texture, and beautiful diverse models as well too, so I love the inclusivity that Lagos Fashion Week offered this time around as well."

“Lagos Fashion Week is amazing, I love the designers they brought together to showcase this year, I mean there’s a lot of culture, there’s a lot…it’s a lot of diversity to be honest because you find some African, you find some continental, it’s a mixture and it’s so lovely. We have so many amazing designers which I worked for some as well."

STORYLINE:

Lagos showcased indigenous fashion from Africa and diaspora at the 13th Lagos Fashion Week presentation.

Featuring a mix of designers from across the continent, the annual fashion show celebrates and provides a market for local brands mostly highlighting African culture and crafts in various colors and styles.

“The Lagos Fashion Week was really nice, really dynamic. I saw all types of fashion, some pieces that I was even considering wearing myself… I love the inclusivity that Lagos Fashion Week offered this time around as well”. Says an Hairstylist and teacher, Wura Kolawole.

Journalist Danielle Anene said some old styles made a comeback in this year’s Lagos Fashion Week. “The Lagos Fashion Week was really breathtaking. I got to see some amazing designs, and I got to also see some style come back”.

Across the continent, fashion continues to grow on various fonts – including in movies and films – in the form of textiles, garments as well as accessories, and fine crafts, all with a long history of prestige and symbolic of the African culture.
