Akosombo Dam Of Eastern Region In Ghana - Changing a Landscape in Africa
Before we left the Volta Region of Ghana, we wanted to see one last thing, the famous Akosombo Dam. A huge mega project which transformed the enter Eastern Region of Ghana. It's highly controversial, so we were kind of surprised that the dam company was actually giving tours.
All the conflict aside, it was a very interesting tour and we loved that we were able to get up close, walking on top of the dam wall. It was amazing to see on the one side the huge dam lake (which is visible from space) and on the other side the dam wall and the turbine, releasing water down to the valley.
We actually had planned to take an overnight ferry on the dam lake going up north, this is probably one of the most adventurous things you can do while visiting Ghana. But we ran out of time, not even 91 Days are enough to see all what Ghana has to offer.
We're going to be writing about the Akosombo Dam soon on our Ghana Travel Blog: https://ghana.for91days.com/
