The National Union for the Total Independence of Angola (UNITA), the primary opposition party in Angola, has recently filed a motion in the country's parliament to initiate proceedings aimed at removing President João Lourenço from office.
Although this move was initially made public in July, UNITA has now officially presented its reasons for the motion in a comprehensive 100-page document, which carries the signatures of all 90 of its Members of Parliament.
The document is reported to contain over 200 petitions, more than 200 pieces of evidence, and features 40 citizens who will serve as witnesses in support of UNITA's motion. It's important to note that, as of now, the parliament has declared its rejection of the petition.
In response to this threat, President João Lourenço has delivered a speech addressing the situation.
