Archival Landscapes is a virtual seminar series of the International Archival Affairs Section of the Society of American Archivists. In each seminar, an international guest speaker introduces participants to the issues and advancements in their local context, describing the history, operating environment and unique aspects of archival practice in their country. The seminar series is hosted by the Graduate School of Library and Information Studies, Queens College, City University of New York.

Spring seminar: NIGERIA
Guest speaker: Prof. Abiola Abioye, University of Ibadan, Nigeria

Abiola Abioye is a Professor in the Department of Library, Archival and Information Studies, University of Ibadan, Nigeria. His areas of interest are archives administration, records management, preservation of information resources and legal and ethical issues in information provision. He attended University of Nigeria, Nsukka where he obtained Bachelor of Arts in History/Archaeology. He proceeded to University of Ibadan where he obtained the Bachelor of Laws, Master in Archival Studies and Doctor of Philosophy degrees. His doctoral thesis was on court records management and administration of justice in Nigeria. He is a member of many professional associations including the Nigerian Library Association, Society of Nigerian Archivists, Nigerian Bar Association, Association of Commonwealth Archivists and Records Managers and International Council on Archives. He has, in the past, served as an assessor for the British Library on the Endangered Archives Programme.
