Atlas Film Studios Ouarzazate | Hollywood of Morocco
In this Vlog I discover Atlas Film Studios which is one of the biggest film studio in the world and it's named after the vast mountain range that surrounds it. It was build in 1983 by Mohamed Belghmi and a huge amount of modern American desert-based movies have been shot here. From Gladiator to Kingdom of Heaven and The Mummy, through to the Disney live-action remake of Aladdin. For Game of Thrones fans it's also instantly identifiable as Slaver’s Bay, which saw a trio of dragons and their queen ‘liberate’ the people of Meereen.
I also visit nearby Ait Benhaddou which has also been the backdrop to Jewel of The Nile, Bond film The Living Daylights, Aladdin, and Game of Thrones which all started when the chose to film Lawrence of Arabia here in 1962.
Just a short drive out of Ouarzazate is the gas station from The Hills Have Eyes in 2006 which is now just abandoned on the roadside.
