SYNOPSIS.
Africa is a diverse continent of 54 countries with around 3000 tribes each uniquely diverse in cultural expressions. Previous events that happened such as Slavery, Colonialism and Eurocentric Education contributed to the disconnect or rather loss of identity, original expressions and our cultures around the world.
However Hip Hop culture re-invented everything having drawn inspiration from the different indigenous cultural forms of expressions creating a new urban culture that with it’s values PEACE, LOVE, UNITY AND SAFELY HAVING FUN brings people together from around the world creating a dialogue that allows embracing of our identity, reconnection to our roots, telling our inner social-political stories, preserve culture and celebrate our voices.
This Authentic Voices Africa documentary film takes us on a journey of 24 artists from 6 different countries from Africa and diaspora coming to Uganda for a one week residence period of authenticity, connection and collaborations in music and writing projects, podcasts, discussions and community tours.
