Batile Alake's "Aje Onire". This clip conveys 5 minutes out of an 18 minute track. Produced by Albert Garzon in coordination with Leader Records of Lagos, Nigeria. Remastered by Scott Hull of Masterdisk, NYC. Released by Community 3 Records (on CD 1995, online 2010). Note: Roughly half of the photos in this video were taken by Albert Garzon while in Nigeria. In fact, Garzon was one of only a few 'westerners' able to travel freely in Nigeria during General Abacha's Reign of Terror 1994-1998.

A very special thanks to Prince Adewale Laoye (The Drummer of Peace) who was kind enough to give us permission to use the photos of his dance troupe in this clip. Please take some time to check out his wonderful videos.

Everyone please remember - Waka is a traditional form employing traditional instruments of the Yoruba. The music and instruments have evolved over many thousands of years. New music, created with computers and electronics and attempting to call itself "Waka" -- is a fraud !
