Senior Inspector James Murphy and trainee Wayne Hector investigate a report of abandoned animals, and find one dog dead and other animals in desperate need of their help. Murphy also leads the team in another case of abandonment, this time of chickens, fish and a family of pot-bellied pigs, at a farm on the edge of the city. Wildlife Inspector Kira Joshua comes to the aid of an exhausted sub-Antarctic seal, a rare visitor to South African waters. Kira is also called out to a school, when a mongoose has taken up residence in the girls’ toilets.
