Kony 2012. If you were on the internet back then, there's no way you haven't heard of Joseph Kony. A Ugandan warlord who terrorized villages and kidnapped children to make them into child soldiers, he's a legitimately bad dude. Back in 2012, he was public enemy #1 for a few months thanks to some very aggressive (and slightly insane) activists. After becoming the "most viral video of all time" and receiving millions of views and shares on social media, Kony is....still living his life, uncaptured.

The Kony 2012 phenomenon has long been forgotten, but not in northern Uganda. That's the region that was hit the hardest by his attacks. 10 years later, the region is now far more peaceful. I wanted to go for a visit and get some perspectives on the conflict. Maybe even find one of the world's biggest war/memelords. To do so, I'd have to call up a familiar face to join me in Gulu. It was time for another East African adventure.
