The "NNS Unity", an offshore patrol vessel built by China for the Nigerian Navy, berthed at Simon's Town in South Africa on Sunday.

A flag-lowering ceremony was held at the navy base in Simon’s Town in Cape Town on Monday evening. Li Libei, China's acting consul general to the consulate general of Cape Town, delivered a speech during the ceremony.

The "NNS Unity" will not only help improve the construction of the Nigerian navy, but will also play an active role in strengthening the safety forces of African countries, said Li.

The "NNS Unity" left China for Nigeria on September 21, and visited other countries on the route to Nigeria, including Mauritius and South Africa.

According to the officials on board, the vessel is expected to arrive in Nigeria in November.
