Delta Variant: Nigeria On Red Alert For 3rd Wave Of Covid-19 Pandemic

A few days ago, the Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu warned Nigerians of a “potential third wave” of the coronavirus infection.

His statement followed a recent announcement by the Nigerian Centre for Disease Control{NCDC}that it had detected the Indian strain of the virus known as the Delta variant, putting six states in the country and Abuja on the red alert.

There are concerns that the Delta variant may spread quickly as Nigerians now seem to have dropped their guard against the virus and with just 1% of Lagos residents reported to have taken the two shots of covid-19 vaccines.
