Six months into a post-coup transition Mali’s Ambassador to South Africa explains efforts to deal with insecurity and humanitarian challenges
It has been a few months since the 18 August mutiny that ousted President Ibrahim Boubacar Keïta, in Mali. A transitional government is now in place for an 18-month period, leading to presidential and legislative elections. The Government led by Bah N'Daw a retired colonel major, has many issues on hand including dealing with regional insecurity and hundreds of thousands displaced by militants attacks and a combination of droughts and floods. Mali’s Ambassador to South Africa Mahamane Cisse told SABC News these challenges are being dealt with as the country rebuilds towards democratic elections at the end of the transition period
