The Ebu People are Igala speaking people who live on the bank of the River Niger. The Ebu People are said to be of Edo and Igala stock. They hold the new yam festival annually during which the Uje Dance is performed. In the olden days warriors will jump into the ring made by the crowd and they will be smacked with a whip. The warriors are not expected to wince or show any emotions and if they do are ridiculed or fined. It was a great show of manliness. Enjoy this beautiful performance of the Uje dance.
