Egypt's Foreign Minister says Hamas is outside the Palestinian consensus

“There has to be also accountability in why Hamas was empowered in Gaza and why was it being financed in Gaza to perpetuate the division between Hamas and the rest of the mainstream Palestinian peacemaking entities.”

Egypt's Foreign Minister, Sameh Shoukry, said at the Munich Security Conference that Hamas is 'outside the accepted majority of the Palestinian people.' He added that those who have empowered and financed Hamas, creating divisions among mainstream Palestinian entities dedicated to peace, should be held accountable.
