The European Union is a supranational political and economic union of 27 member states that are located primarily in Europe. The aims of the European Union within its borders are: promote peace, its values and the well-being of its citizens, offer freedom, security and justice without internal borders, while also taking appropriate measures at its external borders to regulate and promote trade as well as other bilateral agreements with other unions and nations. In a bit to accomplish one of its external aims, the European Union (EU) has signed a €22.8 million (approx. $27 million) agreement to support Kenya's efforts in boosting exports of high-value horticultural products to Europe and other international markets. The funding will be used to enhance the quality and safety standards of Kenyan produce, as well as to support the country's efforts in complying with international trade requirements. The agreement was signed between the EU and the Kenyan government in Nairobi, with representatives from both sides in attendance. The funds will be channeled through the EU's Market Access Upgrade Program (MARKUP), which aims to support African countries in improving their access to international markets and increasing their exports.
