Faces2Hearts in CAPE VERDE: Improving public health through street dogs care
The city of Mindelo on the island of São Vicente is home to many street dogs. Their living conditions aren't good and this has consequences on public health.
Si Ma Bo is an organisation that tackles this problem by implementing a variety of actions. They organise free castration campaigns in isolated areas, they have a shelter for wounded and abandoned dogs, as well as a clinic that provides emergency and preventive care at affordable prices. Si Ma Bo also intervenes in schools to educate younger generations how to treat and care for animals.The organisation is partially funded by the EU, and also runs a hostel to cover its day-to-day expenses.
