From the West to Africa: Sweden, Françafrique and Mali
After decades of colonisation, imperialism and exploitation, how is the relationship between western European countries and Africa? With the help of Dr Almamy Sylla and Jesper Bjarnesen this event will open up for new perspectives and ideas surrounding international relations with Africa, more specifically West-Africa.
Jesper Bjarnesen is a senior researcher at the Nordic Africa Institute and an associate professor in cultural anthropology with an interest in migration and mobility through wartime and peace in West Africa. He is also the founder of AEGIS Collaborative Research Group on African Migration, Mobility, and Displacement.
This event will cover key ideas and discussions surrounding international relations with West-Africa from different perspectives. The event will provide different perspective on Sweden's relationship to west Africa and Mali including historical and modern colonialism and slavery, and military contributions.
The event is moderated by FUF Stockholm Södra's event group Klara Eklund and Johanna Jerner.
