Carolyn Thomas is a Women's heart disease activist and survivor of a misdiagnosed heart attack in 2008. Later that year, she became the first Canadian ever accepted to attend the annual WomenHeart Science & Leadership patient advocacy training at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota.

Carolyn has an Award-winning blog HEART SISTERS : 19 million views from 190 countries. Her writing as been published internationally, including in the BMJ for which she also serves as a Patient Peer Reviewer for cardiology papers submitted for publication in that journal. She runs Heart-Smart Women presentations, and is the
author of A WOMAN’S GUIDE TO LIVING WITH HEART DISEASE (Johns Hopkins University Press).
