Here's How El Niño Could Make For More Wild Weather This Year
Climate scientists at the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration report recent ocean temperature in the central and eastern tropical Pacific Ocean at just 0.1 degrees Celsius below the threshold needed to declare an El Niño. This combined with the ongoing increase in average global temperatures caused by global warming could exacerbate the impacts of climate change, leading to more intense rain, storms, and even hotter heat waves.
