In this video I go over my starting natural bodybuilding diet for increasing muscle mass. It's the diet that helped me gain 70lbs of muscle and go from being skinny to bodybuilding stage worthy without using drugs. What's most interesting, is that my protein intake was never on the high side, nor was my overall calorie intake.

I started out at 125lbs at 6 feet tall, extremely skinny but with lofty dreams of being a natural bodybuilder and though it took many years before I finally realized my goal, I was able to gain a significant amount of muscle with a very basic diet. One where I was only talking in about 2,800 calories per day while also eating somewhere around 120-125 grams of protein a day.

Overeating was never part of my regime as I was only slightly in a caloric surplus for most of those early years, and in fact, there were times when I was only eating 2 meals a day. Yet, I still gained muscle with my three day a week high intensity training regime and I go over in detail the diet that helped me not only build muscle, but also allowed me to stay lean as I ended up at 198.5lbs in competition shape!

It might sound like a case of exceptional genetics, but my transformation and building naturally muscle on a relatively low calorie intake is not an isolated experience.

I worked with many natural bodybuilders over the years in the Caribbean, West, and Eastern Africa who were all able to build tremendous physiques without excessive food or protein intakes.

My friend Fred Sanya from Kenya ate only one meal a day and was able to build a championship level bodybuilding physique, so it can be done!

I hope this video helps dispel the myth that muscle growth won't occur without high calorie intakes and that you can't naturally build muscle without bulking up. There is far too much evidence to the contrary and the same applies to building muscle without high protein diets, supplements and protein shakes. It can be done!
