How Tunisia's democratic revolution turned into autocratic rule | DW News
Police in Tunisia have detained more than a dozen prominent opposition figures in the past months, accusing them of conspiring against state security. Activists say President Kais Saied has been steadily turning back the clock on democracy since July of 2021. The latest move is the arrest of Rached Ghannouchi. He's head of Tunisia's moderate Islamist party Ennahda, and a long-time critic of president Saied. While Saied's regime seems ever more entrenched, opposition voices remain.
