Michael is Chief Okonkwo’s first son who just returned from his studies abroad. He goes to see Irene, an old friend, but Irene’s father expresses strong displeasure with Michael’s relationship with his daughter and wants an end to it immediately. To buttress his point, he goes to confront Michael’s father on the matter. However, the story takes a tragic turn as events unfold.
