As part of male's life in The Gambia, they goes through a series of cultural rites of passage or traditional rituals. In this video is an example of a male initiation and circumcision festival. People of both the main faiths and all ethnic groups somewhat go through all the rituals.
An initiatory rite is a ritual marking the change of social or maturity status of an individual to take up responsibilities in society.
Several other ceremonies are connected to specific events in a Gambian’s life.
