Liwonde National Park in Malawi is heralded as one of Africa's great conservation success stories. Its spectacular setting on the banks of the Shire River, and its healthy Big Five population, make it a top tourist destination. So successful have its conservation strategies been that it is now a source of wildlife for repopulating other protected areas in Malawi. But is the hype really justified? Only one way to find out! So I jumped into my trusty Land Rover and drove across the Zambezi river to go have a look. And boy, was I glad I did!
