JB D' General: No support for Liberia music like other Popular African music

JB D' General, member of the famed Liberian group Soul Fresh, talks about the beginning of Hipco and its influences on his music and names artists like Takun J and other Liberia Music that inspired him.

Though JB D' General never played for the Liberia Football Association, he was more into area Football than rapping. He says, in high school right after the second Liberian civil war, 2003 when Liberia Music began evolving is when he began to get involved.

He says the music is not just about money or the Liberian dollar but right now it's about the passion and how he makes it happen for the fans and fans show support by independently wanting to sponsor his projects.

He is confident he is producing popular African music and has done collaborations with Bucky Raw, Teddy Ride, C.I.C., Christoph, Eric Geso. He talks about collaborating with artists in America and Black Lives Matter but states that people need to understand that Africa is the home of the blacks.

He further discusses the collaborations he would like to have as his career flourishes and the lack of financial support in Liberia versus artists coming out of Nigeria and Ghana.
