The interview is 33 years old, but the scholarship is as timely as ever, especially in our current political climate. Our director, Stafford Ashani, interviewed historian and scholar, John Henrik Clark for Reggae Strong, when he traveled to Jamaica for a conference on black media in the Americas, Caribbean and Africa. In this clip, Clarke discusses the contributions of black inventors and craftsmen in the U.S. and Caribbean, and the inspiration of Booker T. Washington and Marcus Garvey.
Yes, once in a while, we got a little academic. Enjoy.
