JULIUS NYERERE: The Founding Father of TANZANIA | African Biographics
Mwalimu Julius Nyere. Nyerere was the first prime minister of independent Tanganyika (1961), who later became the first president of the new state of Tanzania (1964) after the merging of tanganyika and zanzibar.
Julius Nyerere is also known as one of the main thinkers and creators of the Organisation of African Unity (OAU), together with Kwame Nkrumah and both of them were the major force behind the formation of Organization of African Unity (now the African Union).
