The Nafousa Mountains, Libya's western mountains has been a stronghold for resistance. In the past, they stood against the Windal tribes that tried to conquer North Africa.
Now they stand together, Arabs and Amazigh to rise against Gaddafi and his tyrant regime.
Zintan was the first city in the Nafousa mountains to rise up against Gaddafi's regime.
The first marytrs, fallen heroes, in this region were from El-Zintan and Al-Qala.
This region has seen many infamous people who have played a pivotal role in the history of Libya such as Sulaiman Al-Barooni, Salem Bin 'Ab AlNabi, Khalifa Bin 'Aser and many others.
