Likuni, Lilongwe, Malawi: Into Africa Part 2 The Nyau

From 1970-1972 my husband, a young dentist, and I, a young educator and our one year old daughter worked on a Medical and Educational Mission Station run by the White Sisters. We had the wonderful and rare at that time, chance to visit an evening Nyau ceremony. The costumes and drumming and dancing were unreal and frightening in the beginning. Our houseman introduced us and we could tell him by the cloth that I gave him that he wore around his ankle. Malawi has few resources other than Lake Malawi and its wonderful people. It is a great country to visit because of this!.
