Lion Hunting Prey In Kenya #shorts #animals #safari
In the video the vehicles making a noise and providing cover for the lion could have lead to the antelopes demise as his senses could not pick up the lions presence close by. It is however still a daunting task for a single lioness to take on an antelope of this size. The sighting was filmed in Kenya, which is a hotspot for wildlife and has beautiful scenery.
Lions are very effective hunters and even more so in prides. They have adapted to their environment and have a tawny colour to blend into the grasslands of the African Savannah. It’s been discovered that a pride hunts more frequently when there is a storm overhead. That’s because such weather conditions give lions a huge advantage, as the storm’s loud noises and harsh winds make it much harder to be heard or seen by their prey.
As well as hunting during stormy weather, prides prefer to hunt at night. The cover of darkness helps them hide as they stalk their intended prey.
Lions across Africa have learned that using vehicles as cover and a sound barrier is a great way to hunt and regularly do so as seen in the video. The lion showed acrobatic manoeuvres to get hold of the eland (antelope).
