Local Government | Future of coalitions in South Africa: Mike Law

Political Analyst, Levy Ndou has warned that if coalitions at local government level are not handled well, they might not last. This as uncertainty continues to prevail in the major Metro Municipalities in Gauteng and some parts of KwaZulu-Natal, on whether or not coalitions are the right way to go. Recently in the City of Johannesburg, two council meetings collapsed due to disagreements on the voting process of Committee Chairpersons; while in Ekurhuleni Metro, parties who are in coalition with the DA accused it of bullying tendencies.
