Patrice Lumumba (1925-1961) was a Congolese politician and independence leader who served as the first Prime Minister of the independent Democratic Republic of the Congo (then Republic of the Congo) from June, 1960 to September, 1960. An avid anti-colonialist and anti-imperialist Lumumba dedicated his life for the liberation of Congolese people.
