Meet the African comic book heroes taking the world by storm • RFI English

Africa’s presence in the world of comic books and graphic novels is sparse, but authors like Ivorian Marguerite Abouet are changing that. Thanks to her characters Aya, a sassy young woman, and Akissi, a mischievous, playful girl - both from the suburbs of Abidjan in Côte d’Ivoire - a new generation of role models is on the way. RFI met Abouet at the 2023 Angoulême international comics festival.
