Morocco's tattoo culture is expanding | Morocco News | NewsRme
Tattoos are gaining popularity among Morocco's youth.

Although tattoo studios are not legally recognized in Morocco, they have started emerging in major towns such as Rabat, Casablanca, and Marrakech.



Tattoos, on the other hand, continue to be a source of contention in the nation.



Those who want to be tattooed may encounter difficulties, as this Moroccan sociologist explains.



"There are still numerous religious, health, and societal reasons for Moroccans not to have tattoos. Despite this rejection, tattoo parlors are seeing an increase in attendance, although there is not complete freedom, since some young people get tattoos in secret. And then there are some that resist society despite being bullied ", Mustapha Yassine asserts.



Nabil Eddakhiri, a self-taught tattoo artist despite the fact that tattoos are prohibited in Islam, believes attitudes will shift and people will start viewing tattoos as art.






Businesses seem to be expanding despite the overall mood. In his own words, Nabil Eddakhiri says he sees between 5 and 10 customers a day.
