Mozambique Style Drum Set Rhythm by Steve Roth and DrumSet4u
Drum student Robbie B. requested an example of a latin style rhythm. Here's Los Angeles drummer Steve Roth demonstrating, during a lesson, a Mozambique style rhythm around the drum set using different voices.
The pattern is played as follows:
1__& a__ 2 e & a__3 e & a__4 e & a
R__R l__ R r_ l_R_ l_ r_ r_ l__ R r l r
F___ F__________ F____F________
________H_______________H_____
2nd line = hands (accents are capitalized letters; soft or ghost notes are lower case letters)
Bass drum played on beat 1 and the "a" of 1, also beat 3 and the "a" of 3
Hi-Hat played on beats 2 & 4
