Nabila Ramdani is a freelance journalist who specialises in the Middle East and North Africa, she told BBC Network Africa's Akwasi Sarpong what is known of General Younes.

Libyan rebels appear to have suffered a set back after their military commander was shot dead.

According to the head of the rebel leadership council, General Abdul Fatah Younes was killed by an armed gang after he was summoned for questioning about military operations.

General Younes was Colonel Gaddafi's interior minister until the start of the uprising in February when he defected to the rebel's side.

He was also part of the group that helped bring Colonel Gaddafi to power in 1969.
