Join me on a new adventure to the now reopened Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture. The museum reopened on May 14, 2021. This video is focused around the Culture and Community Galleries of the museum. The Culture Galleries are based around the Cultural Expressions, Visual Arts, Taking the Stage and Musical Crossroads. The Community Galleries are based around Making a Way Out of No Way, Double Victory: The African American Military, Power of Place and Sports: Leveling the Playing Field. The final exhibit is Explore More! Interactive Gallery. This gallery is an interactive, multifaceted educational space dedicated to helping visitors connect and engage with African American history and culture in ways that expand perspectives, spark curiosity and creativity, and increase knowledge.

Recorded on May 15, 2021, during the COVID-19 Pandemic.

The National Museum of African American History and Culture is now open to the public. As we begin a gradual, phased reopening for the museum, we’re putting safety first with enhanced measures in place to ensure the safety and well-being of visitors, volunteers, and staff.

The museum is closed on Mondays and Tuesday and open Wednesday through Sunday from 11 a.m. – 4 p.m, except Dec. 25. Free timed-entry passes are required for entry.
