Nigerian army claims victory over Boko Haram in Borno attack

Nigerian troops on Saturday killed 19 Boko Haram insurgents during a gunfire exchange in an operation in Borno state.

In a statement, the army said it acted on an intelligence report on the presence of Boko Haram fighters in the Chuku-ngu-du camp. The leader of the terrorist group in the area, Ameer Abubakar Gana, was also killed.

The troops also destroyed an explosives factory, detonated four improvised explosive devices and recovered two anti-aircraft guns and other weapons.
