The Governor of Ondo State, Rotimi Akeredolu, has been urged to either resume office or tender his resignation to facilitate the state's progress. The plea came from a faction within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), specifically the PDP Forever Initiative, during a press briefing in Abuja on Friday.

Governor Akeredolu, who returned to the country in September after a three-month medical leave in Germany, has not been publicly seen since his return. The National Coordinator of the PDP Forever Initiative, Hon. Obande Gideon Obande, expressed concern about the leadership vacuum in Ondo State during a press conference. He emphasised that, in accordance with the law, there is provision for the deputy governor to assume the governor's responsibilities in an acting capacity.

While extending well-wishes for the governor's speedy recovery, Obande stressed that Akeredolu's incapacitation should not hinder the governance and functioning of the state. The statement reflects growing apprehension over the prolonged absence of the governor and its potential impact on effective governance in Ondo State.
