PwC report shows VAT rate in SA is lower than other African countries

A PwC report shows South Africa's standard VAT rate at 14% is significantly lower than the average rate of between 20% and 25% in other African countries, but Gerald Soverall from PwC's tax practice says policy-makers should not lose sight of the fact that taxation needs to be structured to promote economic growth.
