Born in Mtwalume in 1979, S’fiso was discovered at a rehearsal in 2001 by gospel star Lundi Tyamara and record executive Tshepo Nzimande, who quickly signed him to the acclaimed label, Bula Music. Throughout the 2000s, S’fiso released career-elevating projects under Bula Music and then EMI before striking out on his own with S’fiso Ncwane Productions. In 2010, he released the anthem of relief “Kulungile Baba”, which crossed over to the secular music world. In addition to adapting traditional hymns, S’fiso wrote, composed, arranged and produced his own music. Before his passing in 2016, S’fiso worked with gospel giants like Dr Rebecca Malope, Sipho Makhabane, Vuyo Mokoena and Dr Winnie Mashaba. His impact reverberates far beyond music: The esteemed pastor and selfless servant started the S’fiso Ncwane Bursary Foundation to assist the less privileged with their educational needs.
